Playgroup
- Children valued
- Playgroup “Listener”
- Simple play ignites complex learning
Play develops intellectual, physical and social skills. It advances the child forward to new stages of mastery. It is the major vehicle for discovery and understanding, testing and integrating ideas, gaining feedback about one’s self through interacting with others. It is serious, engaged business for children.
Our playgroup is play based, generated by children’s interests and levels of development. We value children and their interactions with each other rather than setting adult directed activities.
Playgroup is set up to provide a comfortable, welcoming place for parents and young children to be together. A place away from home where young children can be active, curious social and emotional. A place where parents are welcomed and supported. At playgroup we have a “Playgroup Listener” whose role is to welcome families, listen to children and interact creatively with everyone. At playgroup parents are encouraged to:
- explore with their children;
- connect with their children;
- be interested in their children;
- spend time with their children and
- get mucky with their children.
Child Side Playgroup is an opportunity to share ideas, thoughts and experiences with other parents and children. Playgroup is on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30.
