middle childhood cluster
The Middle Childhood Cluster typically caters for children in Years 4-6 following on from the ECC years where children have gained expansive skills and knowledge about themselves, learning how to learn and learning to communicate, problem-solve, resolve conflict, generate and act upon ideas, initiate constructive and purposeful change….
In the MCC they build upon their own foundations now focusing on communicating in order to learn; to problem-solve and resolve conflict in order to learn new and often challenging things, to produce, to create, connect and innovate, to complete and work to specific design briefs.
Children are supported to become confident users of knowledge and skills as they unpack and interact with the curriculum related to real world contexts at their developmental level.
Children focus on their own individual value and contributions in a community setting, learning to be an active crew member and thoughtful decision makers. They engage in deliberate and purposeful practice to make progress, developing fluency, accuracy and their own personal style and self-expression.
